Friday the 13th!!!

Happy Friday the 13th!

I woke up to some more of Inukjuak's perpetual precipitation. The amount of rain this area gets is incredible! It also makes it really tough to get out of bed in the morning. However, today it seemed fitting since it was, after all, the Devil's Day.

The little red man, and I don't mean Santa, must really be up to no good as the school's water supply has been contaminated with fuel. Which means no school. This is actually the second day in a row that the school has been closed which has given me the opportunity to get a lot of things done that I have been putting off. So, I guess I should stop using the blog as a procrastination tool..... ;)

Tootles!

ps - Happy Birthday Christina!

Hey Markus and Colleen,

we don't have school today either, because we have a SNOWDDAY! It's snowing now since 2 days, sometimes just a little, sometimes heavier. THis morning we woke up to bus cancellations, very slippery roads and snowdrifts between 25-30cm. Mike and I are just done shovelling the driveway, remember all the fun times we had doing this? The snowblower is working great, the snow was just so sticky that it got plugged up every few meters. So we did it the good, old, reliable way. Mike wants to go to school, so I will drive him in a minute, after that Sonja, the kids and I are going to build snowpeople.
Did you know it's not only Friday the 13th, but it is a really special one? I talked to Romy yesterday and she explained to me that 13.10.2006 = 13 as well if you add all the numbers. The last time that happend was sometime in 15hundred something (according to her). And then I had some visitors in suits, first I thought it's the Mormons and asked them into the house (it was snowing and blowing), silly me. Turns out they were Jehovas witnesses and they explained to me that the real ruler of the world (says the bibel according to them) is Satan. So,now you know whom to blame for all this craziness.
Anyway, I always enjoy the snowdays, there is something special about them. Somehow the world slows down a bit, it's a little more quiet than usual. I hope you guys are enjoying your "day off" (because there is always some other work to be done). Talk to you soon

Love
Mom/Gerti

For curious numerologists everywhere, the last time that the digits added up to 13 was January 13th, 1520 (i.e. writing the date in Canadian style, 13/01/1520 => 1+3+1+1+5+2 = 13, although this works equally well in any arbitrary date style)
